Je-Chun Park Percussionist Je-Chun Park is widely regarded as a pioneer in the movement of combining western Jazz with traditional Korean music.
Born in 1961 in Seoul Korea he graduated from Chung-Ang University in 1986 with a degree in music composition. After graduation he began his study in the art of 'Pansori', the traditional music of the Korean shamans, and the 'Chango' the traditional Korean drum.
In 1993 he released the CD 'Mol-e mori', the first of his work to feature the combination of traditional Korean music and jazz. To facilitate playing this fusion of styles Je-Chun Park performed on a unique percussion set-up consisting of Korean and western instruments. In 1996 he formed the percussion duo 'Zen Din' with Gustavo Aguilar, combining world music with free improvisation. Zen Din toured through the USA and Korea. Another free music duo also formed in 1996 with Kang Tae-Hwan (a. sax), meanwhile performed over 150 times in Japan and Korea and since then opens the annual Free Music Festival in Seoul, Korea. In 1997-1998 Je-Chun Park had performances in Malaysia, Swiss, Egypt, Japan, U.S.A.... In December 1999, he released 'Mol-e mori 2', a collection of live performances with guest artists Wadada Leo Smith (tp), Kang Tae-Hwan (a. sax), Satoh Masahiko (p) and Gustavo Aguilar (perc).
In 2000, he came to Japan to play two weeks together with many different styles of Japanese musicians. With the percussion duo Zen Din he gave concerts in 8 cities in the US. In Russsia he participated at the Sergey Kuryohin Memorial Jazz Festival and toured through Moscow, St. Petersburg and Vologda. In 2001 he released the solo CD 'Worship', he started the free music duo 'Miyeon&Park' with the Korean pianist Miyeon. In Yokohama he performed at a Jazz festival with Otomo Yoshihide (guit, turntable). In 2002, he released the trio CD 'Improvised Memories' with Kang Tae-Hwan (a. sax), Miyeon (p). In 2003 he released CD 'Loose Community' in Japan with Otomo, Miyeon, Gunter Muller, Tanaka Yumiko, Sachiko M.

Miyeon Pianist Miyeon started to study the classic piano in young age. Later she graduated from Chung-Ang University with a degree in music composition. After graduation she began to study 20th century contemporary music and Jazz .
She composed the music of the films "Young Lover", "Sa-ja-sung-eo", the KBS TV drama "Tae yang in-Lee Jema". Besides this work she was live performing in serveral countries and continents: In Japan (9 cities), in Russia (SKIF-4), in Switzerland, in Egypt, in Malaysia (with the group Drum Unique).
She played together with Kang Tae-Hwan (a. sax), Satoh Masahiko (pf), Ned Rodenberg (as, cla), Umezu Kazutoki (as,ss), Gerry Hemingway (dr), Otomo Yoshihide (elec).
Her CD releases are "Simple Trust", a solo project, "Young Lover" and "Tae yang in-Lee Jema" - two sound tracks, "Improvised Memories" together with Kang Tae-Hwan (as) and Je-Chun Park (perc) and "Loose Community" with Otomo Yoshihide (elec), Sachiko M (sine wave), Gunter Muller (elec,perc) and Je-Chun Park (perc).
Recently Miyeon formed the free music duo "Miyeon&Park" with the Korean percussionist Je-Chun Park.


 
Ge-Suk Yeo - soprano, voice, electronics

Ge-Suk Yeo Ge-Suk Yeo is a singer, composer and visual artist. As a lyric-dramatic soprano she is a novelty in the experimental and avant-garde music scene. Her own compositions and ideas for sound she notes as sounding pictures or sound-calligraphies, works which meanwhile established her as a visual artist, too. In her live performances Ge-Suk Yeo combines from various parts of her artwork: classical art singing, free jazz, electro acoustic music, experimental music, traditional Korean music, performance, visual art and - recently - video animation and installation.

Ge-Suk Yeo studied classical music and singing in Korea at the Seoul National University in Korea and got a Diploma at the Hochschule der Künste HdK in Berlin, Germany. She built up a considerably repertoire - from baroque right up to the modern composers. After studying at the University she learned several years 'Belcanto' with Celestina Casapietra and other great masters in Berlin and in Milano.

The last years Ge-Suk Yeo had numerous performances at concerts or on international festivas in various countries (Germany, USA, Denmark, Netherlands, Belgium, Korea, Lithuania, and many more).

Her most recent projects are 'The Talking Wall', 'ilgob sorigori', the 'Electro Opera e-' and 'Sori Numgi'. In addition to that Ge-Suk Yeo is involved in ART.CappuccinoNet.com, a label for contemporary and avant-garde music.
